Many across the USA mistakenly think that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican Independence, when in fact it is actually a celebration of GCJPR’s clients and friends. A few things to make clear at the beginning, for you non-Spanish speakers, Cinco de Mayo does mean the 5th of May. Don’t be embarrassed if you asked when the party is, you are not alone.
Last night marked the 15th anniversary of GCJPR’s Cinco de Mayo party. The event lived up to its reputation, with a beautiful Spring evening in Phoenix, terrific Mexican food from Robert’s Catering and a mean Margarita being poured at the James’ back bar, which is not quite the back bar at the Old Ebbitt, but is just as entertaining.
We love to take this opportunity every year to let our clients know we appreciate the opportunity to be a part of their team, to thank our friends for still talking to us, and our co-workers for all of their efforts throughout the year.
For everyone that made last night’s celebration, thank you for coming and being a part of the GCJPR family. We hope to see you next year!!
For anyone who is wondering…here is a little history for you. Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of the Mexican defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. In truth it is a bigger holiday in the US than in Mexico. Any excuse to have a margarita. Mexican Independence Day is actually September 16th.
