PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) produces a quarterly study called the MoneyTree Report, which provides data on venture capital funding activity in the United States. The MoneyTree Report is the definitive source of information on emerging companies that receive financing and the venture capital firms that provide it. As a collaboration between PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association, based upon data from Thomson Financial, it is the only industry-endorsed research of its kind.
PwC needed assistance using this national report to gain local attention in the Phoenix market. GCJPR was hired to maximize media coverage of the MoneyTree Report at the local level.
To do this, GCJPR worked with PwC to compile venture capital funding information for Arizona businesses and to create local story angles around the companies receiving the investment dollars. We then worked with our extensive network in the Phoenix business media to educate them about the quarterly study.
GCJPR also used the MoneyTree Report as a springboard to position PwC partners in the Phoenix office as experts in their field. This relationship-building effort involved introducing Phoenix PwC partners to local business media who have subsequently interviewed and quoted PwC partners on multiple related news stories.
GCJPR later established an exclusivity relationship with the Arizona Republic, the major daily newspaper for metropolitan Phoenix. This arrangement involves quarterly coverage of the PwC MoneyTree Report in the business section of the publication.
Our success with the MoneyTree Report has led to additional media relations projects with PwC, including the recent placement of a front-page business section article in the Arizona Republic covering the PwC “HealthCast 2020” study.
