The first White House Easter Egg Roll was hosted by President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1878. It has been a long-standing tradition ever since. The Egg Roll is now the largest publicly attended event at the White House with attendance of approximately 30,000.

With such a long history, and so much public anticipation, it is essential that this event continue to delight attendees and reflect positively on the President of the United States and the White House.

In 2001, GCJPR was selected to manage the White House Easter Egg Roll for the White House. GCJPR was entrusted with this responsibility due to Gordon James’ successful history of working as lead advance representative for President George H.W. Bush.

The success of an event like the White House Easter Egg Roll hinges on attendee enjoyment. To meet the expectations of the Easter crowds, and to put on a good show on behalf of the White House, GCJPR focuses on advance planning, flawless execution, and securing world-class entertainment.

The GCJPR team begins planning nearly a year in advance, determining the layout of the event on the White House grounds, and handling all logistics for staging, sound, lighting, decorations, catering and audience flow. GCJPR also handles all printed materials for the Easter Egg Roll, including the printed program, coloring book and coloring cards, tickets, credentials and signage.

GCJPR also works to secure top national entertainers for the Egg Roll. The 2006 event featured teen singers Aly & AJ, wildlife expert Jack Hanna, and strolling characters including Curious George, Cookie Monster, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and characters from the animated movie “Ice Age”.

During the event itself, GCJPR is responsible for the management of a 400-hundred member volunteer staff, event communications, the coordination of first-aid and lost and found, facilities, and the coordination of sponsor product distribution activities.

Through its detail-oriented planning and execution, GCJPR has succeeded in entertaining thousands of attendees at the White House Easter Egg Roll. As a result, the agency was selected to produce this event in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
